Spectrum Chamber Music Society's Mission

FWSO violist Dan Sigale has been a performer on the Spectrum series for over two decades. He became Co-Director of Spectrum in 2017 when the longtime director and artist Dave Hermann retired from the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and from Spectrum. Dan went on to become the sole director in 2019 and now serves on the board as our Executive Director. He has been passionate about this organization for many years, and this passion has fueled his interest in bringing Spectrum to new heights.

Like the other musicians on our board, FWSO Principal Bassist William Clay has played with Spectrum for many years. One of Bill’s main roles will be working with some of our established, new, and forthcoming venues to extend the Spectrum experience to a wider audience within the community.

Dotty Hall is a name that should be familiar to many in the Fort Worth arts community. She served as President of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony League for many years, and she also served on the board of the FWSO. She is currently on the board of the Fort Worth Youth Symphony Orchestra. Dotty and her husband Gary are considered family by many in the FWSO. We are thrilled to have Dotty and her energy, enthusiasm, and experience on our board.

Managing the financial aspects of our organization with precision and care. Qiong ensures Spectrum's financial stability and responsible stewardship of resources, enabling our continued musical mission.

Till MacIvor Meyn is also a familiar name in the Fort Worth arts community, he is a world-class composer who is on the faculty of the Texas Christian University School of Music. In 2019, Spectrum premiered his string quartet, Flights of Fancy, and his Canzoni di Fiori for two E-flat clarinets, and the string quartet had one of its premiere performances in 2021. With those outstanding credentials, along with his sharp mind and great communication skills, he is a natural fit for our board. Among other roles, Till is in charge of our Spectrum Chamber Music Composition Award.

FWSO’s Assistant Principal Clarinetist Ivan Petruzziello has performed with Spectrum for several years, but behind the scenes, he has also been a huge advocate for bringing our organization to the next level. His enthusiasm and love of music are contagious, and we are happy to have him as our Program Director.

Jerry Thiel is a long-time supporter of classical music and musicians in the area. He has served on the boards of Symphony Arlington, the Hall Ensemble, Chamber Music Society of FW, Van Cliburn Foundation, and Save Our Symphony FW. Jerry is also a Special Guest at the annual Piano Texas International Festival & Academy.

FWSO Principal Hornist Gerry Wood. He doesn’t believe in titles, but he does the website! Gerald "Gerry" Wood, praised for his "polished tone and amazing expressivity" by the Dallas Morning News, joined the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as Principal Horn in 2022. In addition to his duties with the Fort Worth Symphony, he is newly appointed principal horn of the Colorado Music Festival. Prior to his current appointments, Mr. Wood held positions in the Dallas Opera Orchestra and the Dallas Winds and was a prolific freelancer in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. His diverse performance experience spans drum and bugle corps, chamber ensembles, video game recording sessions, and orchestras worldwide, with performances in China, Korea, Germany, Poland, Italy, and Switzerland. He has appeared as a soloist at the Busan Maru International Music Festival in Korea and is a founding member of the internationally renowned horn quartet, The Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse. A well-respected educator and clinician, Mr. Wood serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Horn at the University of Texas Arlington. He is also the founder and director of The UTA Honors Horn Camp and the Bluebonnet Horn Festival, both dedicated to educating and inspiring young horn players. For over a decade, he was the Horn instructor at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute. Mr. Wood has presented numerous clinics and performances at workshops and universities across the country, including two appearances at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, he has several articles published in the New Groves Dictionary of Music and Musicians. A native of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Mr. Wood holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master's in Horn Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Horn Performance and Instrumental Conducting at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. Gerry and his wife, Molly, reside in Azle with the last of their three children. He is proud that his entire family, including Molly, are successful horn players and musicians. (And for those curious, Gerry hasn't had hair on his head since he was about twenty, and his kids don't find him funny either!) Gerry is a Yamaha Performing Artist and plays a Yamaha 871D.
