Community Outreach Concerts
In addition to seasonally scheduled concerts at our regular venues, Spectrum has also developed ensembles to perform concerts at other venues for the purpose of more broadly serving the community and increasing awareness of Spectrum’s contribution to cultural life in our area. These concerts are generally 45-60 minutes in length and usually scheduled as a part of existing series for theaters, public libraries, churches, etc. This often involves a negotiated fee to compensate musicians. If you are interested in engaging one of our ensembles, please contact William Clay.
Listed below are the outreach ensembles currently available:
- Notes to Remember
FWSO Bassoonist Cara Owens and revered Fort Worth pianist Buddy Bray invite you to join them for a program of much-loved melodies from stage and cinema.
- Prevailing Winds
This trio of oboe, clarinet, and bassoon offers an engaging program of music that ranges from light classical to dances to popular movie music.
- Quartet Chromatica
The combination of two violins, viola, and cello, perfectly encapsulates the range and warmth of the human voice, which helps explain why the string quartet has been the most popular type of chamber music ensemble for centuries.
- Funkytown All-Stars
A quartet of double bassists presents a broad range of genres, such as jazz and other popular forms, as well as classical music. This ensemble brings a tongue-in-cheek approach to both familiar and new music.
